Even though Internet Explorer is one of the most popular web browsers in the world, it comes with many settings that are hard to access and to configure, especially for the average users that lack advanced PC operating knowledge. For example, a task that sounds rather simple, such as disabling the Adobe Flash plug-in, can’t be done in a fast and easy manner using only the default settings of Internet Explorer. That’s why the Toggle Flash add-on has been created.
As its name implies, it lets you quickly disable or enable the Flash plug-in in Internet Explorer, with just the press of a button. For many people that use Internet Explorer and need sometimes to perform the so-called Flash-less browsing, this tiny add-on should be of great help. This add-on lets them quickly disable Flash and avoid having their browser crashed because of Flash-related errors. There are also other benefits of disabling the Flash plug-in, such as getting rid of Flash-based advertisements, reducing from the CPU consumption (because the Flash plug-in is known to be quite a resource hog) and offering additional protection against the attacks that might use the ubiquitous Flash security vulnerabilities. Enabling back the Flash plug-in can be done with ease as well, just by pressing the same button one more time.
As you can see, although it’s just a small button on your Internet Explorer’s command bar, Toggle Flash can offer a lot. I personally don’t hesitate using it, considering many advantages it provides with. You should know though that this add-on will not work with Internet Explorer 9. Anyway, I highly recommend it to those using the older versions of Internet Explorer.
